Why do you order takeout (food to-go) from a restaurant? There are many reasons, but here are a few that I think are the most important:

  1. Because you don’t really want to cook at home, because you don’t want to buy the ingredients and go through the effort of cleaning, cutting and cooking.
  2. Because ordering from a restaurant is convenient, you don’t have to wait for your food and you can use that time to do something else.
  3. Because you can customize order for every family member without the hassle of cooking separate dishes with varying level of spiciness (if you have a family like me where every member likes different level of spiciness in the food) for each of them.

Unified Communications 2012, What’s Changed and Why You Should Know.

Date: Thursday, March 15, 2012     |     Time: 10 a.m. Pacific /1 p.m.

What if there was a single element in your Enterprise communication infrastructure, that though may be insignificant, can actually become a single point of failure leading to your entire enterprise communication spiral down to a disastrous halt? The bad news is more often than not there will be such elements in your communication network, but the good news is, you can identify them by asking the right questions and secure them before the dominoes are set in motion and the situation gets out of control.

Does your network have redundancy built-in?

One of the ways of mitigate the risk of down-time is by building a Highly Available network.… Continue Reading …

lxicon3Who says machines can’t find love on earth? Last week, NET introduced their very own debugging tool called Log Exchange (LX) for their UX and VX series of products. This little piece of software is stuffed with tons of features that not just the machines but even the humans will fall in love with. Let me describe some of these features in more detail.

imageLX can render call flows using UX/VX logs

UX and VX gather all their call related debug information in the log files that are either stored locally or on a separate server. It has always been a dream of anyone debugging using these logs to have the ability to visualize them with relevant call-flows.… Continue Reading …

If you didn’t already know this, Media Bypass is a big deal in Lync 2010. With Lync 2010, Microsoft has introduced three advanced enterprise voice features: Call Admission Control, Emergency Services (E911) and Media Bypass. Media Bypass is a powerful feature most recommended for Enterprises that want to build a scalable cost-effective network.

According to Microsoft TechNet: "As a general rule, enable media bypass wherever possible."

But enabling Media Bypass in an enterprise network has it’s own challenges, most of which can be deflected by a device like an Enterprise Session Border Controller (E-SBC) with media gateway capabilities.

Introduction to Lync Media Bypass

In pre-Lync environment, there was a one to one relationship between a Mediation Server and a media gateway.… Continue Reading …

We at NET are very excited and have jumpstarted 2012 with new products. We just launched our new UX1000 the second in the UX Series product that help companies migrate to Unified Communications (UC) on the one hand and extend their legacy equipment to the new and exciting SIP Trunking services on the other.… Continue Reading …

There are a bunch of Multi Service Business Gateways (MSBGs) available in the market today. And most of them claim to meet all enterprise needs. But do they really? A true Enterprise solution needs to address real enterprise problems.

An Enterprise Needs Ease of Monitoring and Management with the MSBG

Before selecting a Multi Service Business Gateway, you need to evaluate how the MSBG fairs in terms of ease of management.
